Today is a BRIGHT sunny March-more-like-a-lamb-than-lion kind of day! Lamb? Did I hear LAMB? Lamb = YARN!

It's the kind of day you could just jump into your car and drive a bit. If I had my druthers, I'd be headed down to Threadbear right now, instead of on my way to the South Side St. Patrick's Day Parade.

[PLAYTIME always wins over working! Poo...]

And, Theresa, Julie and I had the Playingest Time of ALL on our road trip last Saturday. I sure wish Matt & Rob would move down the street from me so I could cut my losses on the mileage.

I never leave their environs without all sorts of NEW ideas popping through my head. Hence the selection of Koigu I ended up with below...

Julie and Theresa were my Koigu enablers, uhmm, consultants. The first trip to ThBr, T wore her Charlotte's Web. THIS trip, Julie had on hers...

I could not resist another second and put together the yarn for one myself. At one point, Julie was picking out yarn for a Koigu Keepsake Shawl and I was playingMonty with skeins myself and Matt and Deb and I had almost the whole table covered with Koigu.

You'd pick the dominant skein and one more that complimented it, then fill in the others you needed by moving them about until the colors just clicked into place.

My colors are reminiscent of urban landscape, with concrete and soil, subdued, but cut with pops of color in the least expected places - bits of orange, fuschia, runway blue, rich purple - it's hard to describe (and hard to see in the picture above) but it's all there...

The best thing was bouncing the color ideas off of Everyone - no one in our local yarn shops PLAY with their yarn - its soo buttoned-down up here...

Forever FUN - KIP welcomed some new faces to the Thursday Knit-in! FROM LONDON, herself, the fabulous Kerrie, here in Chicago for a business jaunt and the lovely duo from Passionknit: Lynette & Monica!

We were in for a BIG surprise when we found our usual place CLOSED for renovations. It was a cold, windy night and we were lucky enough (thanks to Carolyn & Heidi!) to relocate to Aion Antiquities & Tea House for the evening. WHAT a beautiful space!

WHAT GREAT COMPANY! It is a never ending delight to mingle with other knitters - I cannot describe the Idea Factory that is built every time we get together. AND, meeting people who've been your online regular reads is most exciting - never disappoints - think of all the stimulation you get from reading and multiply by a factor of 100!

Monday Morning Mirth

Yup, I'm a day late and a couple of dollars short, but it's STILL a super What the...

"Martha Stewart had an interesting show this morning - she showed how to make bail. Did you see that?" -Jay Leno

"Yes! We finally captured Martha Stewart. You know, with all the massive and almost completely unpunished fraud perpetrated on the public by companies like Enron, Global Crossing, and Tyco we finally got the ring leader. Maybe now we can lower the nation's terror alert to periwinkle." -Jon Stewart

"Martha Stewart showed up at Manhattan FBI Headquarters to have her finger prints taken and pose for a mug shot. Then Martha explained how to get ink off your fingers using seltzer water and lemon juice." -Conan O'Brien

"Only in America: a boob and a biotch get the SuperPower Smackdown while the white-guy-white-collar-Thugs get a pedicure at Club Fed." -B-Marie

The Lovie Celtic Cardi is flying to the finish line! BUT - will it be done for St Patrick's Day (tomorrow)?!

It's gonna miss by a New York Minute...

I seem to be getting better at (almost) hitting the Holiday Deadlines! This time (compared to Christmas), I am only going to miss by a couple of days, instead of YEARS...

After I go outside and rub the fresh fallen snow on my disappointed BROW I'm going to have to just suck-it-up and pull out another contender:

That I overlooked before...

This hoodie has become one of my favorites! It's made from yarn handpainted by Maryann (eBay: Over The Rainbow Yarns), and is made in an interesting Chevron Lace Stitch Pattern I chose to accentuate the variegation of the yarn.

No need explaining the one remaining
Is somebody I adore.

not QUITE St Paddie's vestament but the Celtic Cardi is a-blockin'...

The washin' of the green was a fun fun process: hot water & two squirts of Dawn soak then warm water rinse with some vinegar, TREsemme Hydrology conditioner, and Infusium 23! (Can you tell Walgreen's was havin a Super Sale!!!)

Just a couple of tablespoons of the latter added to the rinse water made this the Loviest yet! It is soft and pliable and who cares that I started it in February of 2003! It's almost finished!

All (!) I have to do is seam it together, knit the garter stitch collar and put in the 2-way zipper!

While I was busy wishing on shamrocks this week, ye yarn fairies dropped a pot'o'gold on my doorstep...

These are no regular Yarn Fairies.

They're the kind Candian folk from ONTARIO! who run Knit'n'Tyme, (thanks Valerie!).

In my sparkling abode now reside all the ingredients to start my Phildar ONDE creation.

ALAS! The WIP pile beckons!

Number ONE on the WIPlist, the Wavy Bulb's collar is finished (and I must say out loud, OOOh LA LA!) but is minus one sleeve and hooks'n'eyes with ribbon backing along the Front Edges.

Number TWO, the Celtic Cardi, needs front bands, a zipper, seaming and a collar.

AHA! Number THREE, CableME, is gonna have to go on hold! It hasn't been touched in a couple of weeks so NOW it will be destined to become the wool project that will be picked up and knit on cooler days until the warm weather swallows us up.

the Temptress:
Le Gilet Long
Effet "Tie & Dye"

Will she finish anything at all this weekend so she can start a new Number THREE? Please stand-bye...
