This is a CU of the yarn used in the above scarf -
it is the equivalent of about 4 Jello Shots!
It was hand-spun, dyed, then plied by Christine McKay from Tochay's Farm Fibers & Yarn Emporium located in Jonesville, Michigan.
I bought it last year at the TKGA National Show in Chicago.
I am using #17 needles, 10 stitches, Knit Every Row 'til yarn runs out.

Naugthy: One ball Crystal Palace Splash | #15/10mm needles | 13 sts | Knit every row until yarn is GONE!
Nice: about 120yds Super Bulky Yarn | #17/12.5mm needles | 10 sts | 2.5sts per inch | Knit every row until yarn is GONE!
Both of the scarves measure 4" x 72". This was totally accidental. I just KNIT UNTIL THE YARN ran OUT!

Monday Morning Mirth

Just in time to oversee the Holiday Knit Productions in the ChicKnits Household is none other than this ELF who arrived on my doorstep a couple of days ago.
My sister wanted to cheer me up because I have to work on Thanksgiving and won't get any of the 21lb turkey she's making so she sent me a little cheerfulness via USPS.
Cacky sez this gamine lass reminds her of me when I'm trying to pull a fast one - like tell a bad joke or mock her...
Can you imagine? I actually DO put the hand up to my mouth! Just like a three Y.O...
Darn it, sisters are the best. Just ask Claudia & Sylvia...

read the fine print...

Didn't do that... AND, they didn't show the back of this sweater in a picture. I might have given pause to making it if they had...
The back is moss stitch from the waist up to the shoulders. I almost ripped it out last night - the shape looked really off (it was 4" shorter then). I was microseconds away from a FrogFest when I got up and shuttled myself into the cold night air for a Reality Check. I went right outside and let Mother Nature slap some sense into me...
Then I got out a similar favorite fitted sweater and put the piece over the sweater. It was almost exactly the same shape! I don't know why it looks weird to me, but it is spot on. The side shaping lines up and the armhole shaping/back width is the exact same size!
I must have Moss Stitch Whiplash from throwing the yarn twice as much as you do when you knit plain...

hmmm, the Bus Mate Saga...

In the never ending quest to make wardrobe that doesn't S*k, I've been dedicating my time to durable yarns. My stuff has to really take it - when I'm photographing something, I might be on the ground, in a pack, or just heavy lifting. And, it has to take being stuffed in a bag in transit while waiting to be knit!
That doesn't mean I want to look like boy. I want to be CHIC on the Street!
And, that has proven harder to do than I thought.
Of course, there's the venerable LoTech wardrobe - one navy, one beige, one pumpkin.
There's the Bartlett Yarn Duo I made earlier this year - one brown, one black.
And now there's the ultimate WorkHorse, by my idol, Kim Hargreaves, something called Moonlight, from the current Rowan book.
It is brilliant.
Not too many weeks ago, I was out shopping for yarn with Theresa and hooked some yarn to make an experimental jacket. It is more than one color. Intarsia. Slightly. By one stitch.
I had no pattern but a big idea. Then I started looking for a pattern to use this Sheepy Valley Navy on and found the Hargreaves design. It has everything I was looking for and more.
I really wanted the curved bodice line. But this design includes the most wonderful neckline shaping I've ever done. You can't see it from my picture because I bound off all the stitches, but the neckline is Short-row Wrapped and the stitches will continue for the collar when finishing is done. I bound off the stitches to *hold* them to that point.
I did lose the built-in garter stitch buttonband. I'm on a Zipper Binge and will put a 2-way seperating zipper in when it's done.
And, my contribution, a single line of white, added after knitting.
